Ingredients

Cold Brew:

  • 1 cup coarsely ground coffee beans
  • 4 cups cold filtered water

Chocolate Hazelnut Syrup:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup hazelnut paste or finely ground hazelnuts
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

To Finish:

  • Ice cubes
  • Whipped cream optional, but highly recommended for extra decadence
  • Extra chocolate shavings for garnish, if you’re feeling extra

Instructions

  • Brew the Cold Brew: Mix the coarsely ground coffee beans with cold water in a large jar. Stir it up, cover, and let it steep in the fridge for 12 hours. It’s a wait, but oh, it’s worth it!
  • Make the Chocolate Hazelnut Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine water, sugar, and cocoa powder. Stir over medium heat until the sugar and cocoa blend into a smooth concoction. Mix in the hazelnut paste and vanilla extract. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes, then cool.
  • Strain the Cold Brew: After steeping, strain the coffee through a fine mesh strainer or coffee filter into a clean container. This step is crucial for smooth coffee, so don’t skimp on it!
  • Combine and Serve: Fill your glasses with ice cubes. Pour in the cold brew and top it with a generous splash of your homemade syrup. Stir it well. Add whipped cream and chocolate shavings if you're feeling extra indulgent.
